Want your kids to join the 60,000+ other nippers on the beaches around Australia this summer?   Nippers is a junior program that introduces children aged 5 to 13 to surf lifesaving. It is a fun outdoors activity that grows a child’s confidence, teaches valuable life skills and knowledge.   The youth of today are the future of Surf Life Saving, and the Nippers pathway teaches lessons and skills allowing them to continue in lifesaving and sport as they grow older. Nippers is a great way for children to make friends, be active and enjoy the beach in a safe environment. It is also a great activity all the family can be involved in. Nippers at Swanny Surf Club starts in November and goes through to March, with a break over the Christmas period and public holiday weekends. Proficiency – Sunday 4th November at 9.30am - Claremont Pool, Davies Road
The nipper proficiency session will be at Claremont Pool.  Bring bathers, towel, rashie, sunscreen and goggles if required.  Nippers are required to undertake this proficiency before commencing Nippers at the beach.

If your child is unable to make the proficiency, a second proficiency will be held at the beach prior to joining the Nipper group. 

Season commencement

The first day of the season will commence on Sunday 11th November at 8.50am for 9.00am start. 

What does my child need to participate?

Club bathers, Club rash vest, sunscreen and a drink bottle.

What does the Nipper Program involve?

The type of activities your child will be involved in include, water activities such as swimming or board paddling, beach activities such as sprints and flags, lifesaving education and fun water/beach games. The activity level your child will participate in will depend on the age group your child is in. Each Sunday program is different and weather conditions will be taken into consideration particularly with the younger age groups.

Parent Help

Parent help will be required on Sunday’s particularly for the younger children, this will be discussed with you early in the season. Parents helping with water safety are required to have their Surf Rescue Certificate or Bronze Medallion.
