COMPETITION TEAM

We are always stoked to see Swanny’s red and white cap in action at SLSWA carnivals, States and Aussies during the season. While we have a number of high-level competitors, our unofficial motto is “Not last, not lapped”. This represents our encouragement of participation, and having a go, across all ages, whether that be Nippers, Age, Open or Masters. We’d love you to get involved in training, don a Swanny cap at a carnival and give a few events a crack as either an individual or team.

Please note that to be eligible to compete at interclub carnivals you must complete a minimum 16 patrol hours during the calendar year (January-December).

Swanny’s favourite event on the carnival calendar is Country Carnival. Country Carnival is a carnival hosted by one of SLSWA’s country clubs, anywhere from Geraldton to Esperance, over the Australia Day long weekend. Swanny turns out en masse for a weekend of camping, competition, celebrations.....and of course Swanny's famous Country Carnival costume themes. For many of our new (and existing) members this is a great was to dip their toes into surf sports and carnival life, and cheer other Swanny legends to glory. This weekend is not to be missed!

COMPETITION TEAM

Swanbourne Nedlands SLSC supports all members who wish to compete for our surf club at events within Western Australia and Interstate. Details of the various carnivals are publicised on the calendar and will be included in the Surf Sports newsletter, Swanny Shorebreak newsletter and social media updates.

All club members who compete are part of the Competition Team and a select group will qualify as the Competition Squad.

Competing for Swanny ensure you have the following:

• Meet the financial, proficiency and service obligations associated with their membership category.

• Maintain up to date patrol hour requirements in line with SLSA and club expectations.

• Register on Surftec before carnivals.

• Make sure you have a red Surftec band, competition cap, and a Highviz vest.
