Award Nominations

As the sun begins to set on another incredible season of surf lifesaving at Swanny, we look to reflect on all the great achievements across the season. Swanny is great because of the efforts of its incredible volunteers and awards are one way that we can celebrate the outstanding contributions that our Members have made to our Club over the past year.

* New award this season! 

The Surf Sports Contribution Award has been created to recognise the most significant contribution to surf sports at Swanny during the season. This award acknowledges an individual or team who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to the development, organisational leadership or performance of surf sports within the Club. The award reflects dedication beyond personal success and recognises those who strengthen surf sports for the benefit of the Club.

The recipient may have contributed through coaching, officiating, team leadership, competition organisation, athlete development, equipment coordination, competitive achievement or by fostering a positive and inclusive surf sports culture.

Service Awards

Members are also required to self-nominate if they think they may be eligible for 5 or 10 year Service Awards. The nominee must have completed 16 or more patrol hours (or achieved their first patrolling award during that season), in order for that season to be counted as a year of service (see the Service Award Policy).

Life Membership

According to the SNSLSC Constitution: 

“Life Membership may be granted by the Club to Members who have rendered distinguished, or special service. Such Members shall have given outstanding service to the Club and shall have been prominent Members for at least ten (10) years or have become incapacitated in the performance of active lifesaving duties within the Club.” 

Nominations for Life Membership can be made at any time during the season.* Nominations are reviewed by the Life Membership Committee, which then makes recommendations to the Management Committee for approval. 

To nominate a Member for Life Membership, please submit a Life Membership Nomination Form (also available on the website) to the Life Membership Committee by email (lifemembership@swannysurfclub.org.au) which includes: 

• an explanation of how the nominee meets the above criteria; and

  
  

• examples of outstanding and prominent service over a period of greater than 10 years. 

  
  

*Nominations require detailed preparation and review, which takes time for both the nominator and the Life Membership Committee. Nominations received now may therefore not be reviewed until the following season.
