Congratulations to Stirling Stilwell who is the winner* of the Caris Cup Club Marathon for Season 2024/25 with a comfortable win 1 m 48 s in front of Tim Tucak and Alen Pazin a further 39 secs back. The handicapping saw the finishers spread out over just over 5 mins. Stirling was also fastest, 1 m 27 s faster than Alen.
Special mentions to Neve Stilwell who confidently announced at Strength and Conditioning Training on Tuesday evening, that she and Lydia Defrancesco were going to contest the Caris Cup. Unfortunately, Lydia had flown away for school holidays, leaving Neve to walk (talk) back this commitment with offers of water safety. To her credit she did complete the Caris Cup, sister assisted, to be second across the line, 1m 21 s behind her sibling. Apologies for not mentioning Neve's result at the presentation. Kath Laws also started the Caris Cup and was first to the Pylon. Unfortunately for Kath her family leave pass expired and she had to forgo the final swim component. Kristie Orchard finished the Caris Cup in 61 m 42 s, but having missed rounding the final turning cone, elected to redo the final short run leg and then finished hand in hand with Yvonne Stickland.
Nine all-rounders (runners and/or swimmers) contested the Caris Cup Club Marathon this season. Thank you to Bec Bruce and Elliot Kluken for water safety. Thanks to Philip Cave for timekeeping and recording. Swimming conditions were reasonably good with flat conditions, some occasional swell and dumping shorebreak, although those with goggles reported lots of suspended material. Prior to the event there were schools of fish breaking the surface.

*Obligatory Stewards inquiry pending in the back offices, including Davina's assertion Stirling could be swum down!
