Oldham Memorial Cup Results Season 2025/26

Congratulations to Cath Fitzhardinge who is the winner* of the Oldham Memorial Cup for Season 2025/26, 31 seconds in front of Peter Brigg. Third place went to Michelle Seymour, another 12 seconds behind, with Claire Tucak in fourth another 12 secs back and then 20 seconds to Kristie Orchard. Fastest was Peter Brigg, 12 seconds faster than Josh Engelbrecht. Cath is the fourteenth female winner of the Oldham Memorial Cup.

The Oldham Memorial Cup is the second Perpetual Trophy for Cath, who won the F. E. Ford Cup in 2017/18. Cath was third in the Presidents' Cup a month earlier, second in 2011/12 and fastest woman in 2010/11. Cath was second in the Oldham Memorial Cup in 2017/18, third in 1999/2000 and 2009/10 and fastest woman in 2011/12. Cath was also second in the Caris Cup Club Marathon in 2011/12.

Sixteen swimmers contested the Oldham Memorial Cup this season. Thank you to Amity Stilwell, Neve Stilwell and Robbie Brigg who volunteered as water safety. Thanks to Davina Goldthorpe for timekeeping and recording. Swimming conditions were good with an easterly calmed ocean and clear visibility.

Post Swim Analysis: 5 Swimmers swam better than their handicap suggested - Michelle was 1 second faster and Claire was 3 seconds faster, so essentially as predicted. Cath was 56 seconds faster than predicted, Josh was 45 seconds and Briggy 11 seconds faster. So, we must find out what Cath's training regime was for the last week, to improve by 20 seconds over 400 m! Kristie and Erin were only 6 and 7 seconds respectively, slower than predicted, Tim 18 seconds, Tom 20 seconds, Hendo 24 seconds, Champ 28 seconds, Andrew 29 seconds, Lisa 32 seconds and Stirling was obviously tired after winning the Presidents' Cup last Sunday, being 51 seconds slower than predicted! Soph should have left 3 minutes later on Ellie's handicap rather than Claire and similarly Cocky should have left 1 minute 50 seconds earlier on Ellie's handicap.
