Club Championships Results 2025/26
SNSLSC Club Championships 2025/26 Under 19 – Saturday 14 March 2022
Congratulations to Soph Gallagher and Stirling Stilwell who are the Under 19 Club Champions for 2025/26.
1. Soph contested all eight events and as the only U19 Female competitor, finished with a perfect score of 96 points.
2. Apologies to Soph for making her wait until after 4:00 pm to confirm this result 😂.
3. Stirling also contested all eight events, won the U19 Board Race, Ski Race and Iron, was second in the remaining events, except for Beach Flags when he was fourth.
4. Josh was another to contest all eight events, won the U19 Run Swim Run and Surf Race, was second in the U19 Board Race, Ski Race and Iron. Josh is not a beach athlete, coming third in the U19 Long Run and Beach Flags and fourth in the U19 Beach Sprint.
5. Oli is a beach athlete, winning all three events he contested, the U19 Long Run, Beach Sprint and Beach Flags. To the exasperation of Susie, Sophia and Lydia, he didn't go in the water nor get wet!🤔
6. Eli is a beach athlete who also paddles a racing mal. He contested four events, was second in U19 Beach Flags and third in the U19 Board Race. He had a ski on the beach (pretty sure he did), but didn't paddle.
7. Oli and Eli caused some confusion for Ray as recorder for the Beach Sprint and Beach Flags, given the similarities in their nicknames.
8. Lachie only contested the U19 Beach Flags. And when we say contested, he laid down on the line for U19 Beach Flags but didn't trouble the others given his hamstring injury.
SNSLSC Club Championships 2025/26 Over 40 – Saturday 14 March 2026
Congratulations to Cath Fitzhardinge and Ray Lampard who are the Over 40 Club Champions for 2025/26.
1. Ray contested six events and was Recorder for the Beach Sprint and Beach Flags, neither of which he contested.
2. Jules was second, was the clubhouse leader after the first four events. Presumably, he isn't a beach athlete as he appears to have gone home for the Beach Sprint and Beach Flags, also missing the Ski Race and Iron.
3. Logan and Ben Jingles only contested one O40 event each, which they won - the O40 Beach Flags and Ski Race, respectively.
4. Cath contested seven events, only missing the O40 Ski Race. She won five of those events, the O40 Run Swim Run, Surf Race, Board Race, Beach Sprint and Beach Flags
5. Kristie was second, also contesting seven events, only missing the Beach Flags, where she acted as an Official. She won three events, the O40 Long Run, Ski Race and Iron.
6. Davina only contested the O40 Beach Sprint and Beach Flags, in order to keep up with her overachieving children (and show up the underachieving child who stayed at home). 😁
7. Susie only contested the O40 Surf Race, which, as she pointed out, wasn't shorter (290 m) than the Open Surf Race (420 m), as was advertised.
8. The Over 40 Beach Sprint and Beach Flags Club Championships were conducted as separate events.
SNSLSC Club Championships 2025/26 New Bronze Medallion Trophy – Saturday 14 March 2026
Congratulations to Neve Stilwell and Ben Ruett who are the New Bronze Medallion Trophy winners for 2025/26.
1. Neve had a perfect score of 48 points, winning the New Bronze Medallion Run Swim Run, Long Run, Surf Race and Board Race. Neve is also the current Under 17 Club Champion.
2. Ben also had a perfect score of 48 points, winning the New Bronze Medallion Run Swim Run, Long Run, Surf Race and Board Race.
3. In the New Bronze Medallion Run Swim Run, Brittany finished just ahead of Lydia, but didn't cross the finish line, passing on the ocean side of the cone. She was awarded second place and Lydia third, with this having no bearing on the final result if it was reversed.
4. In the New Bronze Medallion Surf Race, from the pack emerging from the ocean, Neve ran across the line, whereas Brittany walked.
5. Considering that purpose of the New Bronze Medallion Trophy is to encourage those newly awarded their Bronze Medallion to compete in the Club Championships this is a fitting reward for Neve, especially considering she missed last years Club Championships as she had a Bronze Medallion training session.
6. In the New Bronze Medallion Long Run, Ben and Declan finished alongside each other, however Declan let Ben cross the line just in front of him.
SNSLSC Club Championships 2025/26 Open – Saturday 14 March 2026
Congratulations to Kath Laws and Stirling Stilwell who are the Open Club Champions for 2025/26.
1. Kath was last season's Open Club Champion. Josh is the current Under 19 Club Champion.
2. Kath contested all eight events, winning four: Run Swim Run, Surf Race, Ski Race and Iron. She was pushed by Michelle who was second in four events Run Swim Run, Long Run, Surf Race and Beach Flags.
3. Stirling contested all eight events, winning two: Board Race and Iron. Second was Robbie who won the Long Run.
4. We started a few minutes later than the programmed 8:01 am - the laggards were Kristie and Bernie.
5. There was a large rock at the waters edge, just in the shorebreak. Despite attempting to warn her, Michelle found the rock! 🪨😥 Initial attempts to move the rock were unsuccessful, but a second attempt led by Ben and three others was successful. Unfortunately, Ben cut his foot on a shell during this manoeuvre. 🐚😥
6. In the Run Swim Run, Brittany finished just ahead of Lydia, but didn't cross the finish line, passing on the ocean side of the cone. She was awarded eleventh place and Lydia twelfth, with this having no bearing on the final result if it was reversed.
7. Robbie won the Long Run, successfully keeping up with Rhods and then sprinting to the line, as he declared as his race plan. He focussed on the Long Run, as none of the other Brigg's have claimed a Long Run Championship.
8. In the Long Run, Ben and Declan finished alongside each other, however Declan let Ben cross the line just in front of him. Eli wore a Swanny competition cap for the Long Run.
9. Prior to the Surf Race, both Sophia and Lydia thought they would die - Sophia from being eaten by a marine creature and Lydia from exhaustion. Susie only contested the O40 Surf Race, which, as she pointed out, wasn't shorter (290 m) than the Open Surf Race (420 m), as was advertised as both events were run together and placings in the different categories determined afterwards.
10. In the Female Surf Race, from the pack emerging from the ocean, Neve ran across the line, whereas Brittany walked. Following them was Sophia, who rolled across the line 😂. Technically you need to be on your feet to finish.
11. There was a photo finish for second in the Male Board Race between Jules and Robbie. The photo confirmed Davina's judging was correct.
12. The race of the day was the Female Board Race. Amity worked her way into the lead around the buoys and led the chase pack back to the beach. The crowd was behind Amity (fresh of a Bronze Medal for the U13 Female Board Relay at the Nipper State Championships) for an upset win, A wave then brought Kath and Soph up to her, with Soph just pipping Amity on the line.

13. Ben came down for one race, the Male Ski Race, which he won. Competitors with four events already completed may have been less than impressed!
14. Even though she was the only U19 Female competitor, Soph was made to complete the Beach Sprint and Beach Flag courses to get her points!
15. Both the Male and Female Beach Sprints had two heats of five, with the four going through to the final. The beach was just wide enough for eight lanes.
16. Both Bec and Oli did the double, winning the Beach Sprint and Beach Flags. This was Bec's first time contesting Club Championships.

17. Hendo was the only person disqualified for breaking in Beach Flags. ☹️
18. Elliot landed awkwardly in Beach Flags and then Presto landed on his wrist. Elliot seemed nonplussed by the injury.
19. Iron draw was Board Swim Ski, the opposite of last year. Drawees were Neve, Robbie and Stirling.
20. Amity contested the Iron, but as an U13 is not allowed to paddle a ski. She completed the board and swim legs and was in seventh position when she finished, in front of two other female competitors, including her older sister Neve.
21. The Iron was run as a single combined event. Kath finished second overall behind Stirling.
22. This was Hendo's first Iron including the ski leg on his new ski!.

23. Youth won seven events and had twelve podium positions! (one less and two less, respectively, than last season). Age difference between 1st and 2nd in the Open Mens Board Race was 30 years!
24. Well done to Josh Engelbrecht, Rhodri Simmonds, Stirling Stilwell, Kath Laws, Kate Hutchinson, Neve Stilwell and Soph Gallagher who competed in all 8 events.
25. The anchors were again set on Friday morning following Board Training. The buoys were added on Saturday morning. This saved time in the set up and meant the buoys were exactly where I wanted them.
26. The anchors are certainly more difficult to retrieve than they are to deploy.
27. Ernie again helped with the washing of craft!
28. We finished about 11.53 am! Last year we finished at 11.54 am. Gear, buoy and anchor packup and washing was complete by 12:54 pm.
29. Freya and Lois are offering their exclusive genuine Swanny Sea Glass - only $5 to $100 per capful.

*Pending Hamish completing a Theory Paper, which he has now completed so result confirmed.
1. We started early at 7:30 am to allow Hadley, Fynn and Hamish to attend Bronze Medallion training mock assessment. Leesa was allowed to marshal 30 minutes later than the rest of the field.
2. Theory paper was the SLSWA Champion Lifesaver paper for 2025/26 (Open and U14/U15). Stirling and Tim answered this paper in the 2025/26 SLSWA Champion Lifesaver Open competition and Hadley and Fynn answered this paper in the 2025/26 SLSWA Champion Lifesaver U15 competition.
3. This is the was the largest Club Champion Lifesaver field in living memory! It was the first time Soph and Hamish had competed in Champion Lifesaver.
4. Thank you Amity Stilwell who was our patient, as well as Hamish and Fynn. Thank you to Kristie Orchard who was our Official, in preparation for her role at the 2026 Australian Surf Life Saving Championships in the Lifesaving arena. Thank you to Davina Goldthorpe for helping with recording and judging.
5. The Surf Race was combined into the Points Races Long Swim. The Board Race was a combination of the Points Races Board Race and a stand-alone U15 Board Race. Thank you to Amity who raced in both these races to confirm the timings weren't affected by conditions (they weren't as Amity recorded the same time in both races). The Beach Sprint was conducted with all competitors, thank you to Davina and Josh Engelbrecht for judging. The Rescue Tube Race was conducted without Hamish who had to leave. Thank you to Kristie as the on water Judge and Davina and Damian Stilwell for on beach judging. Thank you to Davina for the Rescue Tube Race photos.
6. Unfortunately, Hamish missed the Board Race and Rescue Tube Race.
7. We took the traditional competitors photo, albeit with only one racing board.
