Congratulations to Tom Peebles who is the winner* of the Presidents’ Cup for Season 2024/25, in a decisive finish 39 seconds in front of Chris Colalillo (ineligible to win). Second place went to Alen Pazin, another 13 seconds behind, with Stirling Stilwell in third another 10 secs back, but just (1 sec) in front of Champ Pheitam. Tom is the youngest winner of the Presidents’ Cup at 13 years and 4 months, almost a year younger than the previous youngest winners - John Wegner and Mat Glossop. Tom made a special effort the previous weekend to complete is third qualifying Long Swim to be eligible to win.
Fifteen swimmers contested the Presidents’ Cup this season, including past Club Member Jose McKeown, who just pipped her older sister Erin Gallagher. In the 'Engelbrecht' Cup Lisa was 16 seconds in front of Josh with Hannah 1 second further back. The sibling rivalry continues with Claire Tucak 8 seconds in front of older brother Tim. Thank you to Neve Stilwell and Hadley Stilwell who volunteered as water safety. Thanks to Davina Goldthorpe and Amity Stilwell for timekeeping. Swimming conditions were good with a reasonably calm ocean, with the current and swell pushing swimmers slowly towards the finish. Visibility was reasonable.
