Points Races Programme

Swanny Points Races Season 2025/26 Programme - Refer to the Club Calendar

Points Races Guide

Read the Points Races Guide for the what, why, who and how as well as how to win of Points Races!

Points Races Round 01

Thank you to Tiffany Wheatley for timekeeping. Conditions were quite challenging, so we didn't set any buoys or enter the water! Points were awarded for those who would have done the event (ie were present) for those events not held.

Kristie Orchard and James Boekeman ran later in the morning and managed to convince the Handicapper to include their times, with impassioned pleading at Swimming Training!

Points Races Round 02

Thank you to Daniel James from Patrol who volunteered for water safety. Timekeepers were Tim Tucak, Amanda Simper and Claire Tucak. Thank you to Peter Brigg who retrieved the buoys at the end. Calm ocean but still cold. We used the buoys from the earlier Skills Maintenance Run-Swim-Rescue and swam 5 laps for the Long Swim / paddled 3 laps for the Board Race.

Points Races Round 03

Better weather and conditions this weekend, coinciding with the return of Nippers to the beach. A change in the location of the Nipper sign in/sign out area to off the beach meant we could have started more promptly than we did. Thank you to Pez Bishop for driving the IRB and Joe Calzada for crewing - they set the buoys and provided water safety. Thank you to Susie Kitchin for timekeeping. Buoys approximately 100 m apart and 50 m out, so 3 laps for the Long Swim and 1 for the Run Swim Run and Board Race.

Points Races Round 04

A second weekend of great weather and inviting conditions. A few long term Members making an appearance along with a few Parents. Thank you to Lachie Broomhall for water safety, assisted by Soph Gallagher. Our timekeepers were Steve Pegrum, Liz Carson and Lainie Gara. Still awaiting permanent buoys so we made do with the buoys already set - on reflection probably shorter courses this weekend.

Points Races Round 05

Great conditions on the weekend and this was reflected in a bumper turn out. Probably the last week of makeshift courses as the permanent buoys are coming! Points Races Round 06

Windy and rough, not the conditions for swimming and that was reflected in the smaller numbers this week. For the Long Swim we walked to the reef and swam back to the tower. First attempt abandoned after we walked into rocks. Thanks to Alex Aberle-Leeming for time keeping whilst patrolling.

The Run-Swim-Run dodged the SRC mock assessment, the Long Run braved the hot sand and the Board Race squeezed through swimmers. Thanks to Hannah Engelbrecht and Ben Leonard for timekeeping and the Patrol for water safety. Hot day with some breeze, busy beach.

Swanny Iron Series - Festive Iron – Triple Sprint - Saturday 27 December

Doing their best to work off any excess from Christmas Day and Boxing Day, Brenton Laws, Timothy Tucak, Ray Lampard and Julian Gibbings contested the Festive Iron Triple Sprint. Thank you to Ray who assisted with starting and handling duties for the first two races. He also set the Patrol Flags so that craft starts and finishes were possible. If only he had watched which buoys we paddled our boards around in the first two races 😂. Congratultions to Cocky for taking maximum points in SIS Round 2.
